Download bumpmap and Varsity font here.
Download and unzip supplies to a folder on your hard drive. Open the varsity.tff file and minimize the window. When you open PI, it will show in the text drop-down window.
Open a new canvas, 500x500 and use the paint bucket tool to fill with a color of your choice.
Click on the Text tool and find Varsity. Type a letter of your choice, lower case, color white. Use the Transform tool to make the letter fill most of the canvas. Tick the Border radio button and add a white border, size 12.
Under Web, Button Designer, choose Any Shape.
Click Ok to accept the default settings.
Type another of the same letter, color of your choice with a border of 6, a different color. You will notice that PI saved the size of the first letter.
Using the Pick Tool, on the Attribute bar click Center Both on each letter.
With the topmost letter active, go to Photo, Noise, Add noise.
When the pop-up menu opens choose Options. In the next menu choose Uniform,
Monochromatic, Variance 10.

That finishes the letter itself. In the next steps, we will create part
of a jacket to put the letter on.
Open the bumpmap.ufo file. Hit Enter to deactivate it.
Using the Path tool, draw a rectangle to fill the canvas, color of your choice to match your letter.

Add Noise again using the same settings as above(uniform, monochromatic, 10 variance). Your image should look like this:

Next draw another tall narrow rectangle of the same color.Put a black, 1 pixel border around it. Use the Transform tool to rotate the rectangle like so:
Hit the enter key to deactivate all objects. Using the Line and Arrow, draw a line down one side of the small rectangle, duplicate and move to the other side, using these settings:
Use the Selection tool to activate the small rectangle again.Add noise as above and Soft light under Properties. Use the Dodge and the Burn tools to make small spots under the stitches.
Next, use the Path tool to make a small 3D round button with a 1 pixel black border. Slide the Width down to 3 to make a flat button. Duplicate and place both buttons like so:
Now drag your letter to this canvas, resize if necessary and rotate.
When you are happy with your image, save as a .ufo file or merge all and save as .jpg. or .png.
