Blown-Glass Figurines

I tried for a long time to achieve this look, and when I finally did it was so simple! Build a frame for your image and use a stamp .ufo with the Paint on Edges technique.
1. Build the frame first.
Open a new 400x400 canvas; use the Outline Drawing tool and make a rectangle approx. 100w x 250h.
2. Use the Transform tool, Perspective to make the top slightly smaller.
3.Click on the Path Edit tool and pull the rectangle into this shape, using the Convert line function to make it rounded on the top and bottom.
4. Use the Line and Arrow tool, straight line, and draw a line from the top to the bottom.
5. Continue to draw straight lines until the frame looks like so:
Shift-click all the lines and merge as single object.
6. Now use the Line and Arrow tool, Freehand and make a line like this. If you can't get it to look just like you want, use the Path Edit tool to move the nodes around. This will be for the arms.
7. Draw another straight line; use the Path Edit tool to curve it, then rotate and flip it vertically.
8. Open a new 200x200 canvas and draw a 3D round glass circle. Save it as a .ufo into the stamp file in PI. Do not close out this canvas; we will use it again.
9. Click on the Stamp tool and find your glass circle; use these setting, or something close to it.
Go to Effect, Paint on Edges.
You may have to experiment with the size till it looks like you want.
10. Your image should look like this:
Hit the space bar to de-activate, the drag the glass part to one side:
11. Now do the arm frame the same way.
12. Go back to the small canvas with the glass ball; duplicate it, make it 3D pipe with these settings:
13. Fill the 3D pipe with a gold preset; right-click and convert object, path to image; use the eraser tool and erase the right half of the pipe.
Merge as single object and save to the stamp file.
14. Activate the arm frame and use the gold-trimmed stamp on it. Send it behind and to the bottom left of the first arm, so some of the gold shows. Combine the two as a single object.
15. Drag the arm in front of the angel body, duplicate and flip horizontally.
16. Use the gold-timmed stamp on the bottom piece and move it to the bottom of the angel body.
You might want to duplicate this piece, rotate and flip the duplicate and line it up with the first one. Your angel should look something like this:
17. Draw a small 3D round glass circle for the head.
18. Draw a narrow 3D pipe ellipse and fill with a gold preset for the halo.
Send it to the back of the head and just a little above it.
19. Draw a Brush tip 1 from the Custom Shape gallery; click on Path edit and pull the nodes into this shape for the wings:
20. Fill the wing with a gold preset, duplicate and flip horizontally. Send both wings to the back and position like so:
Shift-click on all the angel parts and drag into it's own canvas. Fill the backgrond with a pretty color to make it stand out. You could even add a
sparkle or two to it.
Below are some other glass figurines I have done and the frames I made for them. Use them as examples to make something entirely different.
